While there is sometimes a case for buying dewatering pumps and associated gear outright, renting offers so many benefits that it should always be given shut consideration. This is the view of Lee Vine, managing director of dewatering and dredge pump rental specialist IPR.
He says that IPR is seeing a robust shift towards the rental model. “We started up just seven years ago and, since then, we’ve had to repeatedly add pumps to our fleet to meet ever rising demand from a range of industries, most particularly mining and building,” he states.
“We now have greater than 200 pumps in our rental fleet, able to deal with nearly any pumping activity. Our line-up includes submersible drainage and dewatering pumps, slurry and sludge pumps and diesel-driven pumps. เกจวัดแรงดันถังแก๊ส provide dredging methods and hydro mining options.”
Vine believes that one of many prime benefits of renting is that it eliminates the necessity for upfront capital expenditure, which – relying on the type of gear that’s required – could be appreciable. “Many corporations – significantly if they’re start-ups or are experiencing robust buying and selling situations – merely can not afford to make this sort of monetary dedication,” he says. “If that is the case, rental is the perfect solution.”
He points out that purchasing does not make business sense if the tools required is only used on an intermittent basis. “If you’re going to buy pumps, for instance, then you should get the utmost utilisation out of them. If you only have an occasional want for pumping, then I would strongly advocate renting. It is madness to buy expensive equipment after which leave it standing for lengthy durations.”
Ownership also brings with it the issues of maintenance. “Pumps need to be maintained and this usually implies that folks with the required competence must be permanently employed to undertake this activity,” he says. “When you lease from IPR, we provide this service. Our skilled and skilled technicians undertake all servicing and upkeep on web site on a 24/7 foundation. We also, in fact, ensure that machines are in tip-top condition earlier than being sent out to customers.”
When it involves pumping, there is no such thing as ‘one size suits all’ and Vine says that is another compelling purpose to hire somewhat than purchase. “IPR can draw from its extremely wide range of pumps and different equipment to offer solutions which are exactly tailor-made to the customer’s needs. By contrast, we often notice that firms that elect to purchase their own gear end up utilizing pumps which are totally unsuited to the task at hand. They are using them as a end result of that’s all they’ve obtainable.”
By renting from IPR, customers also get the benefit of the most recent know-how. “Obviously, not each unit in our fleet will be the very latest model but, usually, our stock consists of new or comparatively new machines offering – amongst other things – excellent gas effectivity,” says Vine. “Customers can relaxation assured that we will never provide out-of-date tools that’s not match for function.”
While rental is the spine of IPR’s enterprise, the corporate also sells pumps and different tools. It is the sole agent in southern Africa for the well-established Atlas Copco diesel-driven pump sets as well as the Atlas Copco range of submersible pumps.
As Vine comments, “We’re certainly not saying that customers should all the time hire. Under the best circumstances, direct ownership of assets similar to pumps can be the most effective path to observe. We recognise this, which is why we are geared to either hire or promote.”
IPR is based in trendy premises in Jet Park, Johannesburg, where it has a well-equipped engineering workshop which permits it to provide fully customised pumping and dredging solutions to ISO 9001 standards.
